About Krispy Kreme Alaska
Local Alaskan restaurateur Jack Lewis spent his teenage years in the sunny town of North Miami Beach, Florida. Lucky for Anchorage residents he did, as a mile from his house was a Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop. He loved those doughnuts and would time his days to make sure he was at that store just as the sweet glaze was pouring over those hot and crispy dough rings whenever he could. He would not admit eating one everyday, but did admit of eating more than one on some days. After years of operating Sports Bars, Irish Pubs, Alehouses, as well as Burger and BBQ joints, he said enough was enough. He could no longer wait to satisfy his craving for an original glazed just a few times a year visiting family in the lower 48, or the 10 minute drive from the Maui airport. A call was made to Winston Salem, North Carolina to Krispy Kreme headquarters, and after an enthusiastic sales pitch, convinced Krispy Kreme executives that it was time to come to “The Last Frontier” – Krispy Kreme Alaska opens its doors 2016!
KRISPY KREME ANCHORAGE
It wasn’t as big as statehood but near close. With 200 people camping out all night, live music, a Mayoral ribbon cutting, Drones filming overhead, circus clowns, and even a moose that decided to join the party, Krispy Kreme opened to a company sales record in June 2016. It was an exciting day for all as the incredible doughnut machine (called a 270 M ) pumped out 65,000 original glaze doughnut’s in 1 day! Yes, 65,000!! It was as good a welcome as any town has ever giving a Krispy Kreme and our delicious doughnuts keep rolling down the same 270M as on day 1. Since the opening Krispy Kreme has been an integral part of the community with fundraisers, donations, and providing our wonderful customers with all of the latest specialty doughnuts, like our seasonal holiday limited time offers, cinnamon rolls, the awesome apple fritters, and no one should ever miss our Halloween and Valentine day one of a kinds. We hope to provide Anchorage with the Joy that is Krispy Kreme for many years to come.

KRISPY KREME WASILLA
One visit to the Mat-Su Borough by Krispy Kreme executives was all it took to convince them these enthusiastic outdoor residents would welcome the joy that is Krispy Kreme to their part of the state. Plans had begun in 2019 for the brand new Sun Mountain development on the Parks Highway Wasilla, but the world crisis was just around the corner. A 100 year pandemic appeared in 2020 and priorities within the community took precedence. The Krispy Kreme would have to be put on hold and a new timeline to be established. There was talk of years delay, but also talk by the local ownership to try and get back to normalcy through overcoming the challenges of operating within the serious Covid environment. Equipment was already in route and construction supplies not yet halted, so face masks became the norm, and Krispy Kreme Wasilla opened in the heat of the pandemic in the summer 2020. It was not the usual monstrous fanfare accustomed to a Krispy Kreme cult like opening, but the community supported our effort and as the world recovered, we were a beacon of normalcy with our bright “HOT NOW SIGN” telling the Mat-Su borough that the #1 selling doughnut in the world is coming down the conveyor belt, touching and enhancing lives to the joy that is Krispy Kreme by making the most awesome doughnuts on the planet!
